One Tip To Save You Money On Late Christmas Shopping.

Here is something that bugged me for a long time. Like every other parent I spend a lot of time exposed to children TV, that bombards me with 100s of adverts. TV needs to make money and most of them are interesting and my kids would enjoy those products. However there are those few that piss me off to no end.

Before you read further please watch this video.

Advertisers Think You Are Stupid!

Okay here we are. Looks like fun? Think how often will you use this crap. Once? Twice if you are determined, and this bloody thing costs £20. Twenty freaking pounds for a cake in a face smashing plastic toy you will use once. Same goes for 100s other adverts you see on kids TV. They all have parents and kids laughing hysterically to convince you how much "fun" they have. I am begging you if you are determined to make parenting on budget DO NOT buy into this. It's not only cake smashing thing but all the other "gooey Louie", "dogy doo" toys, etc.

Will your child or you remember stupid cake smashing toy in a week time? Probably no, neither will you buy more cake to waste it. Nor will you be happy washing another covered in cake top.

I will make an assumption here that you are at something like £8/h. That means you have to work 2.5 hour to be able to buy this thing. Would you rather spend 2.5 h reading stories, taking kids to the park. You could be helping your child practising writing their name and do homework or would you rather have a cake smashing toy you will use once for less than 5 min of cheap laughs?

We spend on quality over quantity, this is how we keep our child rising cost low in my house. Every purchase is balanced vs how much long term happiness it will bring to our family. Your kids will want to get this toy I get that. It is hard to say no. You need to realise that child doesn't think long term, their brain isn't capable to do so yet, but yours is! It is parent responsibility to say "no" to stupid toys, to their children and take control of their life with long term planing and choosing what is best for a whole family.

Here is my tip for upcoming late Christmas presents. Before you buy this junk stop and think. If you believe this is worth 2 and half hour of your life then by all means buy it. If however you think it isn't save yourself some money and spend it elsewhere or even better save it for rainy day.
